How much does a dental implant cost? Very good question, I will try to answer that.

My dental office is located near Tampa Florida, in Palm Harbor. The cost of a dental implant varies greatly in a twenty mile radius around my office, the variation in the price of a dental implant within the state of Florida is greater and even greater if we go national or international. The current cost of a dental implant in my Palm Harbor dentist office is listed and current on the home page of this website, but the real answer to “How much does a dental implant cost?” is more than just the dental implant itself.
A dental implant is the screw/anchor/root that goes into the jawbone. The total cost is the cost of a dental implant PLUS whatever the patient and dentist wants on top of the dental implant. This may sound confusing.
A dental implant is not a tooth. Most dental implants need and abutment before a tooth/crown can be placed on it. Sometimes dental implants can be used to secure dentures. This is the most economical way to use dental implants, but the dental implant itself is not a tooth. The patient needs a denture or partial and attachment to use that dental implant for function and esthetics. Sounds confusing?
I graduated from the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in New York City in 1985. I began to place and restore dental implants in my Palm Harbor FL dentist office in 1989. This was quite confusing to me in the beginning, now with over twenty years experience, it seems like second nature.
Consult with an experienced dental implant/ restorative dentist that you feel comfortable with to find out the true total cost of a dental implant.

There are many ways to use dental implants. Although most of the patients I treat in the Tampa area of Florida would prefer non removable teeth, the most cost effective way to us dental implants are to stabilize removable teeth, either full dentures or removable partial dentures. With the wide spread use of mini dental implants, even more people can benefit from dental implants.
When I began my dental implant career, training under world renowned oral implantologist O. Hilt Tatum Jr in St. Pete FL, the treatment of choice for the severely atrophied lower jaw was the ramus frame dental implant. Dr. Tatum is a master of this dental implant. I personally assisted him in scores of ramus frame dental implant insertion surgeries. This is still a magnificent dental implant, but very difficult and invasive.
Mini dental implants, CBCT 3D dental imaging and digital treatment planning have opened the field of dental implant restorative dentistry to many people with less invasive (and many time less expensive) procedures.
The woman in this picture would not have her dentures in the apple, the dentures would be secure, the apple would be chewed and in the mouth where they should be.

This woman would be able to eat the apple if she had dental implants to stabilize her lower denture. The dental implants I have placed in my two different Palm Harbor dental offices since 1989 have enabled people to chew better, smile more confidentially and feel better. Dental implants have a very high success rate and many are placed in the Tampa Bay area. For information concerning the cost of dental implants in my Tampa area dentist office you can call my office at 727 – 789 – 1333 or click Dental Implants Prices.

A dental implant is the anchor that goes into the jaw bone, it does not include the transmucosal abutment (what ever that is), it does not include the dental crown(s) or any attachments, it does not a denture or overdenture, bone grafting that might be necessary or if the patient wants to be sedated.

Krista has moved and now it is my turn to blog. I, Paul L Caputo, DDS have been placing and restoring dental implants in Palm Harbor, Tampa area of Florida since 1989. I opened my first Palm Harbor Dentist office in the 34683 zip code on April 23, 1988. My parents and brother moved to Tarpon Springs in 1985, after visiting a few times I realized that Palm Harbor was as close to paradise as anywhere I had ever seen. My first apartment was in the 34684 section of Palm Harbor, as was my first house at 650 Greenglen Lane, Palm Harbor, FL 34684.

The answer to this question, requires another question, how much is a tooth worth? As we age one enjoys the simpler things in life, like our body parts and eating. Anyone who wears full upper and full lower dentures knows that eating an apple, corn on the cob or a steak is difficult or downright impossible. The use of two or three mini-dental implants to stabilize the lower denture is not difficult or expensive.

I see many advertizements claiming that “Dental implants are a permanent tooth replacement.” What in life is permanent? Whether one believes in God, human evolution or intelligent design, life is an incredible thing. We cannot as faulted mortals recreate nature. Permanent implies for the rest of ones life. Dental implants can last a lifetime but so can natural teeth. The only advantage dental implants have over healthy natural teeth are that they do not decay because they are made from titanium. Teeth can and do get periodontal disease, dental implants can and do get peri-implant disease. Teeth can and do break, dental implants (and / or their components) can and do break.
All this being said, dental implants are a far superior situation than dentures, partials and in most cases fixed bridgework.
